5 Components of an Engaging Website
Creating a website can seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised how many key components are commonly overlooked. Today we're walking you through the 5 Key Components to an Engaging Website.
1. Home Page
Your Home Page is your first impression, so make sure it's a good one! You want your audience to know exactly who you are and what you do based on the first sentence on your website. Once your audience arrives on your page, you want an attention grabbing e-mail opt-in so that they are tempted to sign up the first visit to your site, and then you can continue to reach them through e-mail.
2. About Page
Your about page is your place to shine. However, many times I see brands not making the most use out of their about page, or going too far with their about page. For example, I’ve seen brands with multiple about pages, such as “Our Story, Our Mission, Our Cause.” While those are all great, the probability of an audience member clicking through multiple about pages is very low. Therefore, you want to make sure that you’re concise and to the point on your one about page.
3. Contact Page
This may seem like a no-brainer, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to reach out to a brand and have a really hard time finding their contact information. From a potential customer’s perspective, it can be really frustrating to feel like you don’t have an open line of communication, and could easily prompt them to move onto another brand, so make sure that you have a very clear and easy-to-use contact page. Include an e-mail address, and contact form so that they have both options.
4. Product Page
Again, no brainer, but making your product pages easy-to-use to potential consumers really makes a difference in sales. Including a sidebar with practical categories if you have multiple types or product, or multiple collections makes shopping easier for the consumer, along with fun visuals that will grab their attention and make them interested in the product.
I can not stress enough the importance of having a blog on your website. It is absolutely 100% necessary. Having a blog gives you a place to create original shareable content for your audience to engage with, it acts as a space for consumers to walk alongside your brand journey with you, taking them behind-the-scenes, and letting them feel like they can relate to you.
