Setting Up Your Pinterest Account

Pinterest is like the elephant in the room - everyone knows it's there, but no one wants to talk about it or think about it. Why? Because Pinterest seems like the most confusing of all the social media platforms. However, two things are untrue about that sentence: 1. It's actually much easier than you think, 2. It's not techically a social media platform (which we'll get to later this week.) Anyway, before you try to tackle Pinterest and get discouraged, here's some key steps you can take to set up your Pinterest account.

1. Brainstorm Relevant Boards

The key to Pinterest is to have as many relevant boards as possible, this way you'll have more outlets to share pins, and more ways for the algorithm to pick up those pins.

2. Brainstorm Relevant Keywords

We'll get more into this later in the week, but as I mentioned Pinterest is no longer a social media platform. It's much more of a search engine, meaning you need to approach your strategy with keywords that relate well to your brand.

3. Board Covers

Board covers are a great way to keep your branding consistent ony our Pinterest page. Using an easy platform like Canva to create on-brand board covers will give you some peace of mind when it comes to the look of your profile.

4. Categories

Each pins that you create and each board made allows you to categorize it so that Pinterest can better present it to potential followers. Make sure that you choose relevant categories for each one so that your content can be found!
